18PT C1S (Coated 1 Side) durable cardstock refers to a heavy-weight paperboard with a coating applied to one side, typically for a glossy finish. This coating, often a Glossy UV coating, provides a shiny appearance and enhances the vibrancy of colors and images.
Color Recommendations - Black & Gray
In your design tool, ensure that black text or linework is set to a CMYK value of 0-0-0-100, utilizing only black ink instead of a composite or "rich" black. For large gray areas on boxes, use a value of 0-0-0-20, without any cyan, magenta, or yellow components.
For large black areas, we recommend using our "rich" black value (60-40-40-100) to prevent potential banding issues during printing.
Typography/Fonts
Opt for a font size of 10pt or 6pt or larger to ensure clarity and legibility. Fonts smaller than this may result in fuzzy or indistinct text.
Choose thicker or bolder fonts for enhanced legibility. Reserve script or thin fonts for specific instances, as they may not reproduce well in print. When using light-colored or knockout-white text on a dark background, prioritize bold or thick-lettered fonts. This prevents text from becoming less visible due to ink bleed or the optical illusion created by dark backgrounds.
Raster Images
Frequently saved as .jpg, .png, .psd, .tif, or occasionally .pdf file formats, we advocate for high-resolution images at 300 pixels per inch (ppi). Lower resolutions can lead to visibly reduced print quality when converted to halftone. Opt for high-contrast raster images for optimal outcom
Vector Graphics
Typically identified as .ai, .eps, or .pdf file formats, ensure to outline all text to maintain a consistent appearance prevent unexpected alterations. Embed images to avoid potential printing issues related to unlinked files. Flatten all transparencies, including any screens or overlays with less than 100% opacity, or convert them to a 100% opacity CMYK color build to ensure seamless printing.

Turn all text to 'outline' before uploading your artwork for printing. This will ensure that no fonts are missing in your artwork file and that you achieve the desired outcome.
